DIY Taco Seasoning

{original post on A Dose of Paige}

One of my favorite cuisines to cook is Mexican.  I love spicy food and I love melty, ooey, gooey cheese.  Taco Tuesdays are frequent in my house and most times it is the pre-made packet from the store.  As I started to eat healthier and read labels, I noticed some of the packets contain unreal amounts of sodium.  I started making my own blend & it is rare I buy the packets now.

Oftentimes, seasoning blends are unique due to odd ingredients that only a spice vendor sells.  Luckily the best part of my DIY taco seasoning is that the ingredients needed can be found in your basic spice pantry.  If your spice cupboard is looking sad, now is the time to stock up on the essentials & use Paige’s printables to organize the jars in a cute & personalized way.

My version of taco seasoning contains enough salt to give it the perfect amount of salt and the perfect amount of cayenne for a teeny bit of heat.  If you are interested in a spicier blend, the cayenne pepper can be increased as desired.  This blend is your basic seasoning that can be used in tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, anything!  If a recipe calls for taco seasoning, this blend can be used proportionally to whatever the recipe requires.
