Every year Bryan, Chase, and I spend an evening carving our pumpkins. There is something about the smell of a freshly carved pumpkin. Nothing screams fall more. Chase used to hate the gunk inside the pumpkin so Bryan was always in charge of scooping his out too. However, this year he manned the pumpkin himself. Me. I LOVE the pumpkin gunk. Like I said, the smell, the sticky pumpkins strings, the seeds I try to salvage. I don’t know if it is due to my slight want of perfectionism, but my pumpkin’s inside has to be spic & span. I scrape that sucker baby smooth. I have a
slight huge obsession with cats so of course I carved a kitten into my pumpkin. I free-handed my carving and I think it turned out pretty decent. The boys…they struggled a little. Bryan found this awesome carving online that was a guy drinking a beer. He made a valiant effort to copy it. Chase used the pumpkin sketch book and decided to go with a kitty as well. There was a slight mix up in which area to cut out, but in the end it turned out well. Pumpkin carving has been a tradition for the past three years and will continue to be one. I loved carving pumpkins growing up and I think it is an important part of Halloween (a holiday I love). Check out the pictures of our carving!
